AT THE WESTPORT CENTER FOR SENIOR ACTIVITIES
ELIGIBILITY – Open to Y's Men members and Senior Center participants. Photos must be original work of the entrant and not previously shown at a Y's Men Annual Exhibition. Professional photographer entries will be displayed, but not judged. “Professionals” are persons who solicit or promote their photos for sale on an ongoing basis. MEDIA OR FORMAT – Black and white or color prints. Film or digital. PRESENTATION – Prints must be 11”x14”, mounted on 16”x20” white mat board. The print must fill the mat opening without margins. No backing allowed. IDENTIFICATION – Clearly print your name, phone number, title of the picture, and the category on the back of the mat, at the top in the center. The maximum number of letters and spaces in the title is 50. NUMBER OF PHOTOGRAPHS – Maximum 3 entries per person. ENTRY FEE - $3.00 per photograph, payable by check to Y's Men of Westport/Weston Camera Club. SUBMISSION OF PHOTOGRAPHS – Bring mounted photographs, completed application, and entry fee to the Camera Club Table at Y's Men meetings from September11 to October 9, 2008 or to the Senior Center . No entries will be accepted after October 9. You must also email electronic copies (1024x768) of your images to Bill Balch ( wbalch@optonlne.net ). Each image file must be named with your last name, first initial, EX5 (for Expo 5), and the entry number of your image, e.g. BrownB.EX5003. These images will be used in the awards ceremony and in a Camera Club meeting. CLASSIFICATION OF PHOTOGRAPHS – Photos will be classified by entrants into the following categories: landscape, waterscape, architectural, portrait, action/motion, nature, critter, general, and “Westport/Weston”. The Westport/Weston entries must have been taken in the Westport/Weston area within the last 5 years and clearly convey the nature of the area. The “critter” category is intended for all animals, birds, insects, and the like. The Camera Club Board of Directors reserves the right to change the entrant's category or drop any category that has inadequate representation. JUDGING – Entries will be judged by a panel of three professional artists/photographers. Judges will consider composition, technique, originality, impact, and human interest in selecting the winning entries. AWARDS – Best in Show, Best in Category, and Second in Category awards will be both a certificate and a ribbon. The next five Show Honorable Mentions will receive ribbons. Best and Second in Category winners are not eligible for Honorable Mention awards. OPENING RECEPTION – Friday, October 24 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM . The Camera Club and The Center will host a reception for the general public, and the Y's Men and their guests.
