Richard J. Harrington, president and chief executive officer the Thomson Corporation, will speak on the subject “Leading A Successful Company In Constantly Changing Markets”. Stamford based Thomson is a leading global provider of integrated information solutions to business and professional customers. Mr. Harrington holds a B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island. In 2002, he was presented an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from URI.

THURSDAY, MARCH 22

David Pogue, Yale '85, is the weekly personal technology columnist for the New York Times and an Emmy award winning tech correspondent for CBS News. With 3 million books in print, he is also one of the world's bestselling how-to authors. He wrote or co-wrote seven books in the "Dummies" series (including Macs, Magic, Opera, and Classical Music); in 1999, he launched his own series of complete, funny computer books called the Missing Manual series, which now includes 30 titles. David and his wife Jennifer Pogue, MD, live in Connecticut with their three young children. His web site is www.davidpogue.com.

DONUT HOSTS

The donut hosts for March 15 will be Jack Gibbons, Marion Sa'Couto, Tony Valenti and Dick Webb. The hosts for March 22 will be Jim Brockwell, Dick McFarland, Richard Pactor and Bob Wachsler.

MEETING FACILITIES

Setting up the chairs on March 15 will be Bob Allen, Marty Levey, Ed Schwarz and Dick Webb. On March 22 the chairs will be set up by Tony Falotico, Dick McFarland, Frank Michels and Sal Porio.

TRIPS AND TRAVEL

March 27/29Travel to Fascinating Philadelphia for a three-day tour highlighted by a visit to the King Tut exhibition. The cost is $496 per person, double occupancy, including insurance. Space is still available and friends who are not Y's Men are welcome. Contact Dave Kidney, 227-7560.

April 18 – Tour the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. The price is just $49 including the fabulous buffet lunch at the Officers' Club. We are sold out but will accept stand-bys. Contact Roger Eickhoff, 454-3889.

April 26-May 10 – We will be Exploring Greece and its Islands, on a 15-day escorted tour by Collette Vacations. Reservations are closed and the group will be meeting for final instructions on April 13th at 2 PM in the Family Y Board Room. Contact Elliott Netherton, 454-0489.

August 15/16 - We will depart on a 2-day spectacular trip to Lake George and Saratoga. We will view the area from the top of Prospect Mountain followed by a luncheon cruise on Lake George. That evening we will enjoy a hilarious comedy at the Lake George Dinner Theatre. The next morning we will visit the prestigious Hyde Museum followed by a tour the town of Saratoga and then we will enjoy an afternoon at the historic Saratoga Race Track beginning with lunch in the Paddock Tent. The cost is $347 per person, double occupancy, including insurance, and a down payment of just $150 will hold you space. Contact Dave Kidney, 227-7560.

October 5-13 – Enjoy an exciting Copper Canyon Adventure, a 9-day escorted tour by Collette Vacations. The cost is $1,999 per person, double occupancy, including transportation from Westport. A $220 deposit, including insurance, is required to hold your reservation and brochures are available. We already have 26 confirmed reservations and additional space is very limited. BOOK CLUB

The next book club meeting will be on Thursday, March 15 th , at 1:30 p.m. on the third floor at the Library. The book to be discussed is "Beloved" by Toni Morrison.

CAMERA CLUB

On Tuesday, March 13 Dr. H. David Stein will present his "Digital Photography by the Numbers" talk. David loves photography and teaching others how to improve their skills.  The meeting will be held in the "Y" Board Room, starting at 10:00 a.m. On March 27 David Kalman will demonstrate how to make winning still life photos. Bring your camera or a CF memory card to the meeting and go home with your own great photo. The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. in the Y Board Room.

COIN AND STAMP GROUP

There will be meeting of the Coin and Stamp Group on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. in the conference room at the Senior Center. Bring an item or two you would like more information about or would like to discuss. Any questions call Tony Valanti at 227-7606.

GOLF

More than 30 individuals have signed up for the various golf activities. (1) Golf Tournament, April 25th, at Longshore. Please arrive at 8:15 for Tee off times that start at 9:00. Prizes will be awarded. (2) Practice clinics @$10.00/session. Times to be announced at later date. (3) Weekly games to be organized. Will advise how we will accomplish this.
