Y's Men Newsletter April 27. 2006THURSDAY APRIL 27Connecticut Attorney General, Richard Blumenthal, will speak on the subject "The Increasing Role and Responsibilities of State Attorneys General." First elected in 1990, Richard Blumenthal is serving an unprecedented fourth term as Connecticut's Attorney General. His aggressive law enforcement for consumer protection, environmental stewardship, labor rights and personal privacy, has helped reshape the role of state attorneys general nationwide -- and recover hundreds of millions of dollars for Connecticut taxpayers. He graduated from Harvard College (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude), and Yale Law School, where he was editor of the Yale Law Journal. Attorney General Blumenthal, who served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, lives in Greenwich with his wife, Cynthia, and their four children. THURSDAY MAY 4W. Michael Funck is the former Regional Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Trust Company N.A. in the Connecticut Region, which he founded in1993. “ The Impact of "Affluenza" on Multiple Generations” will be the topic he discusses . Since 1993, the Company has been conducting a nationwide survey of America's top 1% richest people on many wealth related topics. One of the key themes developed over these past 13 years is called "Affluenza" which defines the roles and responsibilities of those involved in wealth transfer among different generations. He will highlight situations describing the good, the bad and the sometimes ugly side of family dynamics where money transfers are involved. He earned his B.A. from Georgetown University in 1965, and his J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1968. This exciting and innovative circus performance will take place at 4 p.m. in a great tent on Randall's Island in the East River in New York City. It is a limited engagement. The trip includes lunch at Mario's on Arthur Avenue (“Little Italy in the Bronx”). The price, $144 per person, includes deluxe coach transportation, luncheon and the show. This overnight trip begins with a tour of Ioka Valley farm and a family style pancake luncheon. Then it's on to Williamstown to the Clark Art Institute to see works by Renoir and other impressionists. Dinner is at the Apple Tree Inn near the concert shed. We stay at the Williams Inn. The next day is a trip across the Mohawk Trail to Deerfield with a guided tour of early American homes and lunch in Amherst at the Lord Jeff Inn. CAMERA CLUB EVENTS May 9 Bill Balch will present a recap of the Elements tutorial program at 10 am in the Community Room at Hall-Brook. May 31 there will be a field trip to Manhattan. HIKING GROUP
