Parrish, Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Altria Group, Inc. will speak on the topic Altria Group Inc.: From Lightning Rod To Peacemaker. Altria Group, Inc. is the parent company of Kraft Foods, the second largest food company in the world and Philip Morris the world's leading international cigarette business. He has been actively involved in the family of companies' efforts to build bridges to a range of constituencies, including health organizations, antismoking groups, civic organizations, the media and government. Mr. Parrish received a B.A. degree in Political Science in 1972 and his J.D. in 1975, both from the University of Missouri. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15Jim Nantz, popular CBS sports broadcaster, will talk about Sports in Our Society Today. He has covered virtually every sport for the CBS Television Network since joining CBS in 1985. His extensive credits include the lead play-by-play position for the NFL ON CBS; anchor of CBS' golf coverage, including the Masters and the PGA Championship; and lead play-by-play announcer for college basketball, including the Final Four and Championship game. He was born May 17, 1959 in Charlotte , N.C., and grew up in Colts Neck, N.J. He and his wife Lorrie live in Fairfield County. They have one daughter, Caroline. What other organization has such community service commitment – look at our brochure. Is there any other organization that has such a wide variety of informative and noted speakers? And how about those Hoot Owls who performed at 25 different events last season and our camera club and discussion group that met all summer. And don't forget all the friendships gained that enrich our lives. I feel honored and privileged to be the incoming president of such a dynamic organization. September 15 the chairs will be set up by Sid Boyar, Ed Coulson, Stan Groner and Marc Marcus. TRIPS AND TRAVELOctober 5 Enjoy a day cruising the Thimble Islands in Stony Point and touring the Gillette Castle in East Haddam. INDOOR TENNISIndoor tennis starts Monday September 19 and Friday September 23 both at 8:00AM. Payment can be sent to Michael Stashower, 14 Cardinal Lane, Westport, CT 06880 or be paid at one of the next meetings. Make your check payable to the Y's Men of Westport/Weston. Our fiscal year runs from July to June, and the dues are now due for the 2005-2006 year. If you are over 90, contact Mike so he can waive your dues. Thanks for your cooperation in getting dues in early so we don't have to do a lot of follow-up.
