THURSDAY DECEMBER 7

Nicholas F. Bellantoni, PhD., who serves as the state archaeologist with the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History and Archaeology Center at the University of Connecticut, will speak on the subject "Adventures of the State Archaeologist: Combining Forensics and Archaeology.” Not only will he talk about recent archaeology projects throughout the state, but will discuss his role in police investigations, forensics and burials. His duties are many, but primarily include the preservation of archaeological sites in the state. He received his BA from Central CT State College and his PhD from UConn in 1987. He and his wife, Angela, live in Newington, and they have two grown children and three grandchildren. He served in the US Navy for four years from 1968-72.

HOLIDAY PARTY

Our annual Holiday Party will be Thursday, December 14 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Continental Manor, Norwalk. The meal choices will be prime rib (P) stuffed chicken (C) or baked fillet of sole (F) with lemon butter. Entertainment will be by Chris Coogan, well-known Westport music personality and his chanteuse from New York City, Michelle Grace, who will offer a program, cabaret style, featuring requests from the audience. We will also be entertained by the Hoot Owls. Dancing will be to the music of the Nice and Easy Quartet. The price is $40 per person; $80 per couple. TRIPS AND TRAVEL

February 21 – Enjoy the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical Company , the winner of six 1971 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. March 27/29 – Travel to Fascinating Philadelphia for a three-day tour highlighted by a visit to the Franklin Institute where their featured exhibition will be the lost treasurers of King Tut. Tour also includes the National Constitution Center, National Liberty Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and a performance at the prestigious Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts of the “Pops Hoedown” featuring Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. April 26-May 10 – Join us in Exploring Greece and its Islands , a 15-day escorted tour by Collette Vacations, featuring Mykonos, Santorini and classical Greece. October 5-13 – Enjoy an exciting Copper Canyon Adventure , a 9-day escorted tour by Collette Vacations, including two nights in luxury accommodations overlooking the beautiful San Carlos Marina plus an awe-inspiring train ride from sea level to almost 8,000 feet via numerous tunnels and over countless bridges in the unspoiled landscape. CAMERA CLUB

The Camera Club will have a “Holiday Atmosphere” field trip into Manhattan on December 22. All members who want to go should notify Larry Untermeyer. The Club will meet at Hall-Brooke on January 9. David Kalman will teach us how to make panorama pictures, and Bill Balch will describe how to make black and white photos with a digital camera.
