She is a native of Brooklyn, New York and a graduate of Brandeis University with a B.A. in 1974 and from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law in 1977. She was admitted to the Connecticut Bar that same year. Justice Katz became a justice of the Supreme Court in 1992. She currently teaches at Quinnipiac on ethics and criminal law and at Yale on ethics. THURSDAY DECEMBER 15Our annual Holiday Party will be Thursday, December 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Continental Manor, Norwalk. The meal choice is prime rib (P), stuffed chicken (C) or baked filet of sole (F) with lemon butter. We will be entertained by the Hoot Owls and The Highland Rovers, an excellent Irish song group. Dancing will be to the music of the Easy Quartet. Tickets can be bought at the December 8 meeting. There has been an exceptionally big demand for tickets so get your money in early. Court DONUT HOSTSThe donut hosts for December 8 will be Mike Belaga, Fred Klein, Harry Nessek and John Washburn. MEETING FACILITIESDecember 18 the chairs will be set up by E.J. Gallo, Fred Klein and Eric Olsen. MEDICARE AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGEJohn Sachs will be happy to meet with anyone needing advice on the new Medicare prescription drug program. He is retired from the insurance industry and has done volunteer Medicare counseling for Westport and surrounding towns. This legislation is confusing and he advises everyone not to rush into anything or make changes in their health or prescription coverage now. Those who have such coverage from their employer (private industry or government) almost always have better coverage at lesser cost than any of the new plans offer according to John. You can reach him at 227-9144. TRIPS AND TRAVELApril 23-25 On our three day trip to Gettysburg, Antietam and Harpers Ferry, we will have guided tours of National Military and Historic Parks. On the final day, we will make some interesting stops near York, PA before heading home. The cost is $425 per person, double occupancy, including insurance and seven meals. We will visit Copenhagen, Tallin, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Visby, Sweden, Warnemunde (Berlin) and Arhus (Denmark). The cost is $3,909 per person for an outside cabin, includes air fare. It is a 10 day/9night trip on board Cruise West's "Spirit of Endeavour" (approximately 100 passengers). This is the same line that took us on our Columbia River trip last year. We will start in Ketchikan and go on to Metlakatla, Petersburg, Frederick Sound, Sitka, Glacier Bay, Skagway, Haines, and end in Juneau. Make your check payable to the Y's Men of Westport/Weston. Our fiscal year runs from July to June, and the dues are now due for the 2005-2006 year. If you are over 90, contact Mike so he can waive your dues. Thanks for your cooperation in getting dues in early so we don't have to do a lot of follow-up. Dues that have not been paid by December 31 will result in loss of membership.
