| JANUARY 06
The celebrated concert pianist, David Hollander, will present a program consisting of a demonstration concert, a musical show-and-tell rich with funny anecdotes and inspiring revelations, all leading up to an exciting and insightful performance. David Hollander's popular approach has generated new audiences and contributors to the world of classical music. His performances have turned Pop and R&B lovers into classical music lovers. He has been referred to as the "Charlie Chaplin of classical music", the "funniest concert-pianist in America " and a man who plays the piano "like a daredevil." David Hollander was born to two symphony musicians in Cleveland in 1946. It is ironic that the evening of his birth his father was across the street playing Beethoven's Eroica Symphony with the Cleveland orchestra under the direction of the legendary George Szell. He has performed throughout the world from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Far East . His book, Concert Goers Survival Guide has been popular with neophyte concert goers. JANUARY 13 Governor M. Jodi Rell in July of 2004 appointed Leonard C. Boyle Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety. His career has taken him from a local police beat to the top ranks of the U.S. Attorney's office in Connecticut . Boyle, a highly respected federal prosecutor for nearly two decades and a former East Hartford police officer, served as the assistant U.S. Attorney for Connecticut and as a Special Attorney to the Attorney General of the United States prior to this appointment. He graduated from the University of Hartford in 1980 and earned a law degree from the University Of Connecticut School of Law in 1983.
