W. Michael Funck

Former Regional CEO, US Trust

W. Michael Funck is the former Regional Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Trust Company N.A. in the Connecticut Region, which he founded in1993. During the twelve years he held this position, he had overall responsibility for personal and family assets that grew from $400 million to $4 billion. In October 2005, Mr. Funck began a new role as Advisory Director for Community Relations in the New England Region. In this role, he is responsible for fostering U.S. Trust's relationships in the communities it serves and assisting with business development matters.

Prior to being selected to lead U.S. Trust's expansion into Connecticut in 1993, Mr. Funck spent four years with U.S. Trust Company of New York in the Asset Management and Private Banking Group. Before he joined U.S. Trust in 1989, Mr. Funck managed the Estate & Trust Group at Irving Trust Company in New York for 10 years, where he headed a team of 50 fiduciary and financial planning specialists. He began his career as an estate settlement officer at Chemical Bank in New York in l971.

Prominent in industry activities, Mr. Funck has also served on several professional association boards and committees, including the New York Estate Planning Council where he was elected president in 1988. Mr. Funck remains a member of the Trusts and Estate Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

A former U.S. Army Captain and Vietnam veteran, Mr. Funck served on the boards of the New York Veterans Leadership Program and the Metropolitan U.S.O while he was working in New York. Since moving to Connecticut, he has served or currently serves on several boards including the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, the Stamford Center for the Arts, the World Affairs Forum, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship – Fairchester Region, and the Fairfield County Community Foundation where later this year he will assume the Board Chairmanship. Mr. Funck has also served on the Fairfield University Business School Advisory Board, the Chairman's Council of the Regional Chamber of Commerce – SACIA, the CEO Forum at the Western Connecticut State University Ancell School of Business and the Greenwich Hospital Capital Campaign Steering Committee.

Mr. Funck earned his B.A. from Georgetown University in 1965, and his J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1968. He resides in Greenwich.
