John Krubski

"Why America won't be that much different in 2057"

Futurist John Krubski will speak to the Y's Men of Westport/Weston on Thursday, October 5th. He will tell us “Why America Won't Be That Much Different in 2057". The meeting begins at 10AM at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East.

Basing his observations on more than 25 years of social research, as well as an innovative new research methodology (The index of what Matters Most™) with over 5,000 respondents, the author makes a compelling case for the probability that America will remain largely recognizable and consistent over the next five decades – in spite of the apparent changes in the global socio-political environment. In his presentation, Krubski reviews the fundamentals of the American Character and explores how the formation of that character has endowed this people with a unique cultural DNA that has, and will, stand the test of time and upheaval.

He will also look at the new wave of pre-Americanized immigration that will less change the American landscape than enrich it and he will also share his newly-developed model of the Eight Cultureographies that define our population.

As a radio-announcer, theatrical and television commercial performer, as well as speaking, sales, and presentation coach (not to mention the son of a 1920's cabaret performer) – Krubski brings to each of his appearances the deep appreciation that ‘bored audiences learn nothing' and that ‘even the most momentous insights' can benefit greatly from a well styled and dramatically delivered presentation. His style is entertaining, personable, illuminating, and rich with anecdotal illustration. As a speaker/presenter, Krubski not only informs – he performs and stimulates.

Krubski's credentials as a commentator on the marketing and socio-political scene come highly-earned. He is the creator of the cutting-edge research methodology (The index of What Matters Most™ ) which, introduced in late 2004, is beginning to deliver on what some of its clients call: “The first major advance in research since Elmo Roper seventy years ago….” The index was developed by Krubski and his collaborators over 7 years, during which Krubski also served as a Futurist and innovation consultant to America's top corporations, including American Express, Charles Schwab, Outback Steakhouse, Sears, IBM, Compaq, Michelin, Fox Television, DreamWorks, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, General Mills, Quaker, Pepsico, and many, many more. He also provides his services as a strategic vision consultant and innovation coach and has helped companies develop their presentation and sales skills.

Krubski previously worked at Yankelovich Research, the pre-eminent values, attitudes and trends company, that serves both US and multi-national corporations in providing customer and consumer insights. Krubski joined the company as a marketing executive and left more than five years later as one of the leading presenters of research-supported insights and perspectives as well as a qualified Futurist.

Before joining Yankelovich Research, Krubski enjoyed a career as a hands-on business-building sales and marketing executive. He served as the VP Marketing of the Television Bureau of Advertising. He was head of Marketing for an internet-based marketing initiative in 1986. He sold and distributed syndicated television programs, including The Wrestling Network (which is now part of Turner Broadcasting) and was a marketing executive developing new business for the National Broadcasting Company.

Before coming to New York, and having left college with a Journalism degree and having worked as a Scenic Designer for television, Krubski founded his first entrepreneurial enterprise, an advertising agency, at the age of 24. Within a few years, he was the Producer of the highest-rated nightly television program in Southern New England. While still in the employ of the Washington Post TV Station Division, Krubski founded, installed, managed, and developed that company's first television production and post-production facility in Hartford, where he was responsible for building a business from the ground up and training the staff in cutting-edge production and editing technology.

Krubski graduated from Fordham University in 1972, where he acquired a fine balance of Jesuit rigor and Zen attitude. He lives in Westport, CT with his wife Joan and two children.
