DR. ELLIOTT LANDON, SUPERINTENDENT OF WESTPORT SCHOOLS, TO SPEAK AT OCTOBER 12 th Y's MEN MEETING Superintendent of Westport Schools, Dr. Elliott Landon, will speak at the weekly meeting of the Y's Men of Westport/Weston on Thursday, October 12 th . His talk is titled “ Public Education the Crossfire: The Feds, Special Interest Groups and the Courts.” The meeting begins at 10AM at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East. Prior to his administrative career, Dr. Landon served as a high school teacher of chemistry and general science in New York. He came to Connecticut as a school superintendent in Ridgefield. After nine years in Ridgefield, he spent three years as superintendent in Garden City followed by his appointment as Superintendent for Long Beach, Long Island for ten years. He became Westport's Superintendent of Schools in July, 1999. The Y's Men is an organization of more than 400 retired and semi-retired men who live in either Westport or Weston. They meet Thursday mornings from September to May, participate in a variety of activities from tennis and bowling to bridge and investments, go on trips local, nationally and internationally, and volunteer in many worthwhile causes from Meals on Wheels to the Red Cross.
