President of Save the Children, Dr. Charles F. MacCormack, Speaks to the Y's Men on October 11th
On Thursday, October 11th, Dr. Charles F. MacCormack, President of Save the Children, will speak to the Y's Men of Westport/Weston. His subject is "The World Outlook for Children”. The meeting begins at 10AM at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East . Dr. Charles F. MacCormack has been President of Save the Children since January, 1993. Dr. MacCormack was President of World Learning (formerly known as The Experiment in International Living), in Brattleboro, Vermont from 1977 through 1992. Prior to becoming President of World Learning, he served as an International Research Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Assistant to the Dean of the International Fellow Program at Columbia University and lecturer at the University of New Hampshire. Dr. MacCormack serves as Board Chair of InterAction, and previously served on InterAction's Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Save the Children Alliance. He has served on the Food Security Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He was selected by the United Nations Secretary General to participate in the founding of the United Nations University, served as a member of the U.S. delegation to the World Food Summit and the United States Delegation to the Preparatory Committee for the 2001 General Assembly Special Session on the Children. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Education by Middlebury College, an honorary Doctor of Laws by Clark University and was made a member of the Grand Cordon of the Order of Al-Istiolal by King Hussein of Jordan. Dr. MacCormack received his Ph.D. and M.A. from Columbia University. He was a National Science Foundation Fellow at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City and was a Fulbright Fellow at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. He received his B.A. from Middlebury College. |
