Y's MEN TO HEAR “MAKE-A-WISH”
SPEAKER
AT APRIL 7th MEETING
Karleen Lombard, Director, Program and Volunteer
Services of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, will speak on Thursday,
April 7th . In her talk, she will provide a general
overview of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, its history and mission, wish
eligibility requirements, types of wishes granted, current wish statistics
in Connecticut, and information about how people can share in
the power of a wish. The meeting begins at 10AM at the Saugatuck Congregational
Church, 245 Post Road East.
Karleen Lombard is a graduate of Mount Holyoke
College. Many Westporters may remember her from her 8½ years
as Director of Community Services at the Mid-Fairfield County Chapter
of the American Red Cross. For the past 4 years, she has been working
for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut where she is the Director
of Program and Volunteer Services.
Lombard's responsibilities include recruiting, training
and overseeing a team of 300+ volunteers around the state and supervising
their 2 wish coordinators on staff. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants
the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to
enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Last fiscal
year, the Foundation granted 144 wishes in Connecticut. |
