Aging to Sage-ing
Group Contact: Mike Boyle, mikeboyle1@gmail.com
The name of our YsMen group comes from a book with the same title. “Over two decades ago, beloved and respected rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi felt an uneasiness. He was growing older, and fears about death and infirmity were haunting him. So he decided to embark on mission to get to the bottom of his fears. ..”
In our club we allow men to address some of these same issues about growing older and fears of death and dying in a safe space. No topics are out of bounds, and we are there to really listen to one another. This is a more a club of the heart than the mind (such as book club or travel) or body (like tennis or golf).
All men are welcome, but obviously not all men are interested in emotional topics and heartfelt discussions.
The group meets on the third Friday of each month at the Saugatuck Church in Rooms 109/110 on the ground floor. There are approximately a dozen members. Normally 5 or 6 men show up for meetings, though not always the same guys.
