Kayaking offers physical activity, exposure to nature, and an opportunity to explore your environment from a perspective that is not always easy to reach. It can be a thrilling experience…connecting yourself with the water and the surrounding environment.

We plan to kayak in our wonderful local waters with occasional trips to waters outside our immediate surrounding towns. Kayaking locations and times will be based on the group’s skills, interest level, tides, and weather.

We are looking to splash into some local coastal waters starting in June. We will try to target weekdays/times when the water is between 3 hours before hightide and 3 hours after hightide. Initially we will look at about two hours of on water touring with launch times between 9:30 and 10:30. Our frequency will be twice a month. A notification will be sent out to our groups email (ysmenkayakers@googlegroups.com) notifying every one of our launch location and time.

Some of the launch points will be Compo Beach (need beach pass and kayak launching pass), Longshore (need beach sticker and kayak launching pass), mill pond (need beach sticker and kayak launching pass) and the under 95 boat launch in Westport (no pass is needed). For those who would need to rent a kayak you could participate when we launch from under 95 and you rent from Sea Kayak Connecticut (https://www.seakayakct.com ) or when we launch from Longshore and you rent from Longshore Sailing school (www.longshoresailingschool.com) .

At this point I am targeting Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays for our Kayak days (depends on the weather) with the first in at Mill Pond on Friday June 7th. The second outing will be the week of June 17th (Monday, Tuesday, or Friday).

If you want to join this group, please contact Walter Greene at wlgreene1@gmail.com.

The Y’s Men participate in a wide variety of activities (more than 25 in all) such as golf, photography, tennis, skiing, bridge, hiking, and sailing. The club also organizes trips and events locally, throughout the United States and internationally. We often have dozens of Y’s Men social events with their spouses or significant others enjoyed cruises, concerts, plays, musicals, plays and dinners. There is always a minor chance of injury on any activity, therefore we ask each member to sign an Agreement and Assumption of Risk.

I acknowledge that I am participating in the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston activities of my own free will, and I assume all risk and take responsibility for any injury including death that I, any member of my family or guest may suffer while participating in these activities, whether on site, remotely, domestically, or internationally.

In consideration of being a member and participating in Y’s Men activities, I hereby release, agree not to sue and discharge the Y’s Men Westport/Weston including its officers, directors, trustees, members, its organizers, volunteers, agents and sponsors from any actions, claims, liabilities, damages, or losses (including, but not limited to, court costs and attorney fees) which I now have or may incur as a result from my participation in such activities.
